Confirmation

Confirmation is a Sacrament of Initiation that has an intimate relationship to Baptism and the Eucharist. Sacramental preparation for teens is offered to those teens wishing to be Confirmed who have completed 7th grade and 8th grade Faith Formation classes through the parish Faith Formation program or the Catholic Schools.  Preparation for Confirmation requires the participation of the teens as well as the parents.

There will be a Parent Meeting about Confirmation Preparation on Sunday, November 7, 2010 at 12 noon in the Education Building.  Confirmation preparation sesssions will take place on Sundays.  Complete details will be discussed at the meeting on November 7th.

The celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation is a parish celebration that will take place the first weekend of May 2011.

Holy Communion

Holy Communion (Eucharist) is the Sacrament of initiation in which we receive the real presence of Jesus Christ and enter into an 'intimate communion with God and with our brothers and sisters.’

Preparation for First Holy Communion (Eucharist)

We value the Church teaching that parents are the ‘primary educators’ of their children. Our goal is to assist parents in this awesome responsibility. Recognizing that families can have very hectic schedules, we carve out sacred time for parents and children to come together at the parish, with other families, to focus on the importance of celebrating Eucharist, as well as the importance of being Living Eucharist for others. These sessions typically take place on Tuesday nights from 6:30 to 8PM.

First Holy Communion is always a community celebration .

At St. Jerome, we strive to illuminate the fact that the children are joining the community at the Table of the Lord. For this reason, First Holy Communion is celebrated during various Sunday Masses in accordance with our regular Mass schedule. The First Communicants and their parents approach the altar together to receive the Body of Christ, thereby giving witness to the larger community of their commitment to the promises they made at their child’s baptism.

Reconciliation

Through the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession), we recognize and celebrate the love and forgiveness of Jesus and the peace that He brings.

Confessions are heard each Saturday from 3:00-4:00 and 5:00-5:30 PM.

During Advent and Lent, a Parish Reconciliation Service is held to celebrate this Sacrament in a communal setting. Individual confessions may also be arranged by appointment. Contact the Parish office for more information 727-595-4610.
