Dear Friends:
I thank you for reading our new “Sharing Faith Blog.” This blog is dedicated to having parishioners share a reflection concerning something about their faith or sharing a reflection about the current Sunday’s Gospel. I thank Brianna Scully for being the first to share on our new blog. Brianna was asked to reflect on Matthew 2:1-12 which was the Gospel for the Solemnity of the Epiphany.
Respectfully yours in Christ,
Fr. Tom Morgan

January 15, 2017 – “Sharing Faith Blog” – Reflecting on Matthew 2:1-12.
Jesus was born in the humblest way possible - in an open manger that Mary and Joseph quickly hopped into as Mary was about to give birth. Something, I take from Jesus' birth is that Mary and Joseph remained very meek as Jesus was being lavished with gifts by the three wise men. The three wise men bringing the gifts to Jesus is known as the Epiphany. The Epiphany is important to me because it shows me the importance of remaining humble. When Jesus, Mary and Joseph were being treated like royalty, they remained humble. Not only did their meekness show during the Epiphany, but it showed in all the liturgical events that we read about them in the Bible today. Humbleness later developed into a key trait that Jesus used throughout His daily life. As I grow older, Jesus' humbleness has showed me the way I want to live my lifestyle. I try my best to stay meek in my schooling and daily activities. For example, as I have grown in my volleyball skills, I have used Jesus' life as a way to model the way I want to play. When I score a point or win an award, I appreciate what my coaches and teammates have done for me to get up to that point. This has helped me to become a stronger team player and an overall more respected person on the court. But, I bring this all back to the lesson that Jesus taught me through His humbleness.
