ALTAR SOCIETY
The activities of the St Jerome Altar Society rest on the three pillars of Prayer, Service and Friendship. Each of our activities begins with prayer, including our monthly meetings, held usually on the third Tuesday of the month at 7:30 PM in the Parish Center. We pray for our parish family, our own family and each other. Our service is dedicated to the preparation of the entire worship space for the celebration of the liturgy and for the other celebrations that lead us to a personal relationship with Jesus. This includes weekly teams who rotate their service on Wednesday evenings to prepare the church for the Sunday Masses, the preparation and decorating of the places for the major Holy Days of the year, such as Advent, Christmas, Lent, Palm Sunday and Holy Week, Easter and Easter season, Pentecost, major and minor feast days and Thanksgiving. We use our many talents, such as sewing, embroidery, homemaking, event planning, art and administration. Through our participation in the activities of the Altar Society we form friendships that warm and support us individually. We share each other's tasks as needed; we pray for each other in times of need or sorrow; we enjoy each other’s company in large or small group activities or in social get-togethers. In short, we become sisters in the Lord Jesus. We invite any who have a desire to serve to come and join us. Our members represent all ages and we wholeheartedly and warmly welcome anyone who wants to become part of this wonderful ministry. It is particularly appropriate for those who are new to the parish or new to the Church. For further information regarding meeting times please contact Debbie Cole at 813-503-6145 or send her an email by filling out the form. |
