A Tribute to Rebecca “Becky” Eileen Blitch
Becky was born on June 2, 1980 to David & Nancy (Taylor) Blitch. Becky described herself as coach, artist, educator, writer, and geek. Becky’s life included: Studies in criminal justice, debating in high school, a national merit scholar, studied with Eli Wiesel, a person known for her smile who lived life with a sense of humor, a person who received a bachelor’s degree in religious studies and a master’s degree. Becky loved to read and to listening to music, she kept up to date on world events, she was a committed disciple of Jesus and was committed to prayer, she volunteered at Annona Elementary School working with third graders, she was an advocate in educating others concerning people with disabilities, a trailblazer for advocating for accessibility for those with disabilities, a Tampa Bay Rays fan who always went to their games, Miss Wheelchair Florida, a MDA poster child, and a person who always welcomed discussing with others her disabilities. Becky was Diagnosed with a severe neuromuscular disability as an infant. She passed away on January 24, 2018. We the parishioners of St. Jerome Catholic Church thank God for sending Becky to her parents David and Nancy, to her brother Kyle and to rest of her family, and to us. It is our honor to pay tribute to Becky by sharing some of her writings and meditations.
